Why Donate to the Brain Injury Association of Sault Ste. Marie and District
We urge you to make any donations to the Brain Injury Association of Sault Ste. Maire and District. In the past donors have mistakenly donated to the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA) or the Brain Injury Association of Canada. Although they expected their funds to be used to help people injured in Sault Ste. Marie and District, no funds were provided to our local association as they had specified an association outside of Sault Ste. Marie and District. If you wish your donation to be used to help people in Sault Ste, Maire and District you must donate to our local association by name.
100% of Donations go to Support Association Programs
All members are volunteers and are not paid. The Association has moved out of a rented office space into the community so that funds do not have to be wasted on rent. Therefore, all funds received as a donation go 100% into the programs and Association function.
General Information about Donations
Donations to the Brain Injury Association of Sault Ste. Marie and District are tax deductible. When you donate a minimum of $20.00 you will be sent a Tax Deductible Receipt. For amounts of $19.99 or less a receipt will be forwarded on request only. Receipts may be sent by email or post.
Why are we asking for $5.00, $10.00 or $15.00
While we would appreciate larger donations, we recognize you are often asked to support many groups and associations in your community. Many people are tired of the constant hit for donations, especially as they seem excessive. However, most people can afford $5.00 and some even $15.00.
We hope you will take the time and donate an amount you are comfortable with. For only the approximate price of a hamburger and coke, your donation will help us provide the maximum support to survivors of brain injuries, their family members, and care givers. One of these survivors could, one day, be one of your friends or neighbours who needs a helping hand.

Charitable Receipt Policy
A charitable receipt will be issued by the Association to any one who donates to the Association. In accordance with the Associations charitable status, a receipt may be used in your income tax submission to reduce income tax you would otherwise owe.
However, sending out receipts are time consuming and expensive. If the donation is small, the cost of mailing the receipt may be prohibitive. The following policies have been established to protect you the donator and the Association:
1. Donations of $19.99 and less will have a receipt mailed or emailed only upon request.
2. Donations of $20.00 and up will have a receipt mailed or emailed to the donor on receipt.
3. Donations made automatically and monthly will be sent a receipt at the end of the year (January).
